Cygnus Group


Cygnus is a wayfinding design and architectural signage organization with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver. The company's long history has seen it grow from a manufacturing and product supply organization to one of Canada's largest wayfinding consultancies. This dramatic 25-year shift has resulted in a complex set of offerings and a wide range of client expectations.

The Cygnus website is intended to fulfill two functions: reaffirm existing perceptions based on Cygnus' history as a project management and materials organization while continuing to promote the company's design services. It is structured around the understanding that Cygnus is defined differently from client to client and office to office.

Working Format worked closely with Cygnus to evaluate positioning strategies and organize content in order to design the new website. In addition to the planning and art direction of the site, we were hired to consult on all aspects of the project from competitor analysis and photography to production and user-testing.
