By Any Other Name is a design exhibition curated by Working Format that considers the unique narratives implied by Vancouver's alternate names. The exhibition comprises seven Vancouver-based graphic designers who occupy an important role in shaping this city's visual culture. Each designer was assigned
a single alternate name as the basis
of a poster design. The exhibition is
on display in the Canada Line platform at Waterfront Station from October 2011 through May 2012.
In addition to curating the exhibition, Working Format designed the poster for Raincity, a look at the colourful aspects of our notoriously wet environment.
It is produced in partnership with the Emily Carr Alumni Association with support from the City of Vancouver's 125th Anniversary Grants Program and InTransit's Public Art Program.
Contributing designers: Chris Allen (Terminal City); Carolina Becerra, Talent Pun, Nadia Chiu, Kat Cortes (Saltwater City); David Coates & Rod Roodenburg (S’ólh Téméxw); Jeff Hamada (No Fun City); Alex Nelson (Hollywood North); Grace Partridge (Raincity); Isabelle Swiderski (Lotusland).
